Chatting to an American student when we were in Salta she said that everyone at home thinks of two things when they hear the word Argentina – tango and gauchos. Now this isn’t reflective of actual life in Argentina at all but we were determined that during our time in the country we’d experience both tango and what’s it’s like on an estancia, the home of the gaucho.

Where the magic happens
Our main priority when booking our accommodation for our last week in Asia was to make sure that we were close to good street food. Luckily for us our last destination was Bangkok so we headed to the Sukhumvit area and took up residence in a guesthouse just around the corner from Soi 38. We had heard from several reliable sources that the street food in this area would ensure that we left Asia in style!

Stunning Halong Bay
Halong Bay, a place that conjures images of towering limestone giants, remote floating fishing villages and traditional Vietnamese junk boats sailing elegantly amongst it all. It was somewhere that inspired us to visit Vietnam and right at the start of our RTW trip I announced to Paul that when it came to experiencing Halong Bay we were going to do it in style.

Delicious fruit shakes – just add ice
Nothing says Asia to me like fantastic street food. I know everyone talks about how great it is but I really think everyone should experience the joy of eating the most delicious, fresh and surprising street food at least once in their lives. The experience of a night market is intoxicating, it’s loud, busy and a real assault on the senses. You wander around being hit with the most mouth watering smells, every stall frantically preparing food in ridiculously simple but amazing ways. I’m astounded by what some of these cooks can achieve with one gas burner and a wok.
